Parīzes Dievmātes Katedrāle: Introduction

Parīzes Dievmātes Katedrāle Concert DVD
Parīzes Dievmātes Katedrāle is an opera by Latvian composer Zigmars Liepiņš. It was written and preformed around 1996, and was very successful. The CD recording was the most demanded recording of any Latvian opera in history. The opera was awarded the Great Latvian Music Award the following year.

Despite its success in its native country, Parīzes Dievmātes Katedrāle is highly obscure in the rest of the world. To my knowledge, it has not been released or even preformed  outside of that part of the world, which is unfortunate. I couldn't find the official CD or DVD recording on major sites like eBay or Amazon. Certain websites may have had them, but the sites weren't in English and I didn't want to go through the hassle of overseas shipping and converting money and all that.

The version I will be reviewing is a Youtube video of the DVD. While I normally would not encourage piracy, it's the only readily available option. Plus, the video includes English subtitles, so it's possible to actually understand it.
